Turkey, Hungary Discussing Sweden’s NATO Application

Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, stated on Friday that Turkey and Hungary are actively collaborating on the approval process concerning Sweden’s application for NATO alliance membership.

Fidan, addressing a joint press briefing with his Hungarian equivalent, Peter Szijjarto, in Budapest, indicated that Sweden has undertaken measures consistent with Turkey’s requests on countering terrorism. However, he emphasized that they anticipate more action from Stockholm.

Furthermore, Fidan announced that the question of Sweden’s NATO membership ratification will be a topic of discussion in Turkey’s parliament when it reconvenes in October.
