Pompeo Named No. 1 Christian Ally of Israel for 2023

The Israel Allies Foundation (IAF) has honored Mike Pompeo, the secretary of state during the Trump era, as Israel’s most significant Christian supporter for 2023.

Highlighting his achievements on their website, the IAF mentioned, “Pompeo championed Israel’s claim to regions including Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, Judea, and Samaria during his tenure as secretary of state. He was instrumental in forging the Abraham Accords. Furthermore, his ‘Pompeo Doctrine’ emphasized that the U.S. no longer sees Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria as being at odds with international conventions.”

Before his role as the chief U.S. diplomat, Pompeo represented the U.S. in Congress for over a decade and was part of the Congressional Israel Allies Caucus. He’s been a fervent supporter of Israel and its Jewish community, often speaking out against antisemitic statements. His dedication led to him receiving the Peace Through Strength Award from David Friedman, the former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, at the newly inaugurated Friedman Center. Additionally, Pompeo joined forces with Ambassador Friedman to produce and feature in ‘Route 60: The Biblical Highway’, a documentary that explores the significant biblical sites situated along a 150-mile journey through Judea.

IAF’s list identified 50 top Christian advocates for Israel. Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro secured the second spot, followed by Pastors Larry and Liz Huch from Texas’ New Beginning Church. Philanthropist Dick Saulsbury and televangelist Paul White were also recognized, with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and ex-U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., ranking ninth and fourteenth respectively.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the IAF has been publishing this list for four years, aiming to express gratitude to Christian Zionists for their unwavering support of Israel.
