During the recent Republican presidential primary debate on Wednesday evening, President Joe Biden took to his X account to commend Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for his critical remarks about former President Donald Trump.
“Fully on board with this,” was the sentiment posted on Biden’s X account at 9:28 p.m. ET, as he shared a post from his campaign account poking fun at Trump for his absence at the debate.
In the run-up to the 2024 elections, Biden has been vocally critical of both Trump and DeSantis, seen as the leading contenders against him. Biden expressed his concurrence when DeSantis pointed out Trump’s conspicuous absence.
The post from the Biden-Harris campaign headquarters on X highlighted DeSantis’ words: “[Donald Trump] should be here to justify the 7.8 trillion added to the national debt, which paved the way for the current inflation.”
Interestingly, Biden chose to overlook the part where DeSantis criticized him as well. DeSantis had commented on both Trump and Biden’s absence from pivotal leadership moments, saying, “Biden is nowhere to be seen in leadership, and you know who else is missing? Donald Trump.”
The fact that Biden shared the 9:27 p.m. ET campaign post led some media outlets to speculate that he was closely following the discourse within the Republican Party during the debate.
However, Newsmax found that Biden’s brief nod of approval to DeSantis’ remarks about Trump was the sole comment on his X account related to the debate that evening.
